El Proyecto Desaparecidos - The truth and reconciliation Commission was established to investigate human rights abuses in Peru in the 1980’s and 1990’s. This site contains official documents about the Fujimori government’s actions and those of the Marxist insurgents, the Shining Path. There are links to other human rights organizations as well.

International Center for Transitional Justice - This site displays information about human rights issues involving the transition from repressive regimes to democracy. Their report on Human Rights in Peru focuses on establishing the truth about abuses on both sides of the Shining Path insurgency throughout the 1980’s. There are links to news releases about human rights and democracy issues from Peru and around the world as well as contact information and fellowship programs.

National Security Archive - This website is dedicated to an in-depth analysis of CIA documents released in 2003 in regards to human rights in Peru. The documents show human rights abuses by the Shining Path over the 1980’s as well as the response by the Peruvian government and was prepared in its final form by the International center for Transitional justice. The full report can be found at International Center for Transitional Justice's website. Information about the Fujimori government’s attempts to bring the Shining Path under control display their disregard for human rights in Peru. Of the over 200 documents mentioned here, as of 2003, 90 had not been released until this time. There are also links about the Peruvian Truth and Reconciliation Commission which was establish to look into Human Rights in Peru. The documents on human rights in Peru on this site are well organized and give insight into what the United States knew about the Shinning path and the government’s record on Human Rights in Peru.

There is an overview of women’s place in society in Peru and their role in the changing economy and emerging democracy. The overview is useful for its historical treatment of women’s issues in Peru.
